Haines Hunter 650 Classic - Fishing boat of the year

The 650 Classic was recognised by Modern Boating Powerboat of the Year Awards earlier this year when it was awarded the 2005 ‘Fishing Boat of the Year’.

The decision was based on the boat’s performance in the categories of safety, performance, value for money, ‘fishability’ and innovative design.

“We listened to what our customers were asking for, what the ‘fisherman’ wanted in the ultimate boat.” Managing Director, John Haber said.

The 650 Classic is the result of eighteen months of research and development at Haines Hunter’s Melbourne plant.

The end result is a hardcore fishing boat with a few more creature comforts you have come to expect from Haines Hunter.

Every part of this boat has been carefully designed to take advantage of the available space. The cabin is large enough to sleep two adults in genuine comfort and there is ample storage with:

• Large storage bins in port and starboard sides
• Rear-folding lounge with storage locker
• Lockable glove box
• Fully moulded side pockets with rod storage
• Large 60-litre live bait tank
• Large underfloor stowage locker or kill tank
• 210-litre fuel tank.

Comfort on the Classic is a number one priority not only within the boat itself, but also in its performance. With the Haines Hunter patented “Performance Deadrise Vee” hull you are guaranteed a soft ride with precise, comfortable handling.

The 650 Classic is available for both single and dual outboard engines, with hydraulic steering, it is rated to 230HP, with a stern drive option available.

Also this year the 650 Classic has won a Commendation award in the Trailerable Fishing Category of the 2005 AMIF Australian Marine Awards.

With the overwhelming popularity of the 650 Classic, Haines Hunter have just completed design of an all new 600 Classic to be released at the Melbourne Boat Show.

The 600 Classic was based on the same principals as the 650 and should prove to be just as popular.
