The Group employs over 150 staff at 7 different locations. In 2004, the Hinterland Group was recognised as one of the Top 400 companies in the Queensland 400 Business Awards. The Group is also the recipient of many prestigious awards presented by Toyota and other manufacturers. The Group was proud to receive one of the highest awards from Toyota in 2005 - The Presidents Award for Excellence. The Hinterland Group is a franchisee/agent for the following manufacturers and distributors:
HINTERLAND GROUP TIME LINE1984 Hinterland Toyota first commences operations as an authorised Toyota dealer at Spencer Road, Nerang. October 2000 Hinterland Toyota acquires Oz Trade Supplies, a leading industrial and automotive paint and coatings supplier. Craig Hopper, manager and part owner of Oz Trade Supplies, has extensive knowledge and experience in the paint supply industry. April 2001 Hinterland Toyota acquires Heyers Autos at Burleigh, which becomes Heyers @ Hinterland Toyota. At the same time, The Hinterland Group is formed. Ownership of the company is divided between Tony Stark (Dealer Principal), John Kerr (Financial Controller), Daniel de Mezieres (Nerang General Manager) and Ken Grace (Burleigh General Manager). These gentlemen share a large number of years of experience within the motor industry. September 2002 The Hinterland Group acquires the Fraser Wholesale yard on the corner of Kortum and Leda Drives. This allows for expansion and growth of the Burleigh dealership, which is renamed to Hinterland Toyota Burleigh. December 2002 The Hinterland Group becomes an authorised dealer for Daihatsu motor vehicles at Burleigh. Construction of a brand new showroom and service reception area is commenced at the Burleigh dealership. June 2003 The Hinterland Group acquires the former operations of the Miami Boat Shop, a long established boat dealer on the Gold Coast. This business becomes Hinterland Marine. David Whyte is the manager and part owner of Hinterland Marine. May 2004 The former operations of John McDowell Caravans at Burleigh is acquired by the Hinterland Group. Now known as Hinterland Outdoors, this allowed the Group to carry over their well known customer service and support from the motor and marine industry into the caravan sector. Hinterland Outdoors is managed by Ken Grace. April 2005 Hinterland Toyota opens its brand new $6 Million Parts and Service Centre at Pappas Way West, Nerang. This State of the Art facility becomes one of the most modern and advanced dealership workshops in Australia. April 2006 Hinterland Toyota opens a new and modern Used Cars office at Nerang. Located just behind the original Used Cars building on Hinkler Drive. June/July 2006 Both Hinterland Marine and Hinterland Outdoors relocate to new premises in Burleigh and Nerang respectively. Bigger, better and more modern facilities provide our boating and caravan customers with an excellent level of high quality service. The Future... Presently in planning is a brand new Hinterland Toyota showroom and administration centre at Nerang. As growth in the motor, marine and outdoor/caravan industries continues to increase at a fast rate, so does the growth of the Hinterland Group. This means further improvements to existing facilities, along with relocations to larger and better sites. The most important factor in the Group's growth is to always provide new and existing customers with the finest level of service and support available today.
